"Human DNA is 98 percent the same as the DNA of chimpanzees; but it's also 70 percent the same as the DNA of yeast." I love the latter factoid. For me it reinforces the possibility of reincarnation. If 70 percent of our DNA is the same as yeast, we could come back in all sorts of forms . . . which reminds me of the atom of carbon traveling through chemistry class.
My second favorite fact is that Louis Pasteur is credited with disproving spontaneous generation. I had forgotten. And, I enjoyed the refresher on the fairly recent discoveries that led us to disavow our confidence in the theory of spontaneous generation.
